TransPennine Express Class 185 train
Customers need to be safe when choosing to travel with TransPennine Express (TPE) this Christmas with additional cleaning and accessories as well as additional accessories available to help in the necessary areas.
Those planning to use the train during the holidays, especially when restrictions are lifted between 23 and 27 December, are strongly advised to reserve online reserves, pre-screening and allow more time to travel as activities have become more busy than ever before.
Tickets can be purchased online through our website or using the TPExpress App where people can pay using Apple Pay or PayPal. E-tickets are also available allowing customers to use their phone instead of having a ticket.
Unless otherwise requested, face masks should be worn at all times on the train and at the airport and it is important that people follow the instructions given to protect others. More can be found in TPE’s ‘Keeping you safe’ video and at: tpexpress.co.uk/travelling-with-us
The railway company will continue to run about 80% of its Covid-19 operations following a temporary change on December 14. Many trains carry a number of public transportation; However, trains need to be busy, especially before and after Christmas. Available times at: tpexpress.co.uk/travel-updates/timetables
Customers can also reserve seats (corresponding to the height of the occupants) when they are restored from December 14th.
TransPennine Express Central Manager Liz Collins said: “We urge those planning to use our trains to see friends and relatives at Christmas to book as soon as possible, to check before departing, to give them extra time and follow the directions given during the trip.
“Our team is working very hard to ensure that jobs are safe, but we all have a role to play in protecting ourselves and others, wearing masks and frequent hand washing, or using laundry detergent.
“We will also have some international and local co-workers at Christmas to help anyone who needs it.”
As usual, TPE activities end early in the Christmas season and no one will be present on Christmas Day or Boxing Day. The programs will resume on December 27, although they begin shortly afterwards.
Anyone who can save trips via the TPE page can also use the new permitting tool to select a date for future trips and check if any engineering work is underway. These can be found here: tpexpress.co.uk/travel-updates/changes-to-train-times
