Janet Lee Plunkett, 69, Morristown, died peacefully on December 1, 2020. She was born on August 7, 1951 in Shelbyville, IN Geneva and Margarite (Thurman) Burns. Janet is a graduate of 1969 from Shelbyville High School.

After graduating, Janet became a lawyer and Adams & Cramer a lawyer in Shelbyville. Then on August 14, 1971 she married and moved with her love of Stephen J. Plunkett (senior at Ball State University) to Muncie, IN. After graduating, the happy couple moved to Indianapolis where Janet began working for Meridian Insurance. At Meridian, Janet began working in the payroll, eventually becoming a full-time secretary. In the summer of 1987, Janet retired from Meridian to become a full-time mother in the home of her two young children. In 1990, he and his family moved to Morristown.

Janet had many hobbies including reading, mowing the lawn, watching a drama in addition to her favorite Shadows, and spending time with her family and all her pets. She also enjoys hanging out with her friends in addition to playing a letter club every week and, while at Meridian, Janet and her co-workers created a “Woo-Woos” that provided exciting years and great memories for her members. One of her favorite things to do is enjoy traveling with her family and / or friends. Not only did he travel to the United States, but he was able to travel to other countries including Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Italy, England and Mexico. Later in life, he often traveled with several friends and relatives to Cabo San Lucas. A lover of the Beatles’ life, while in England with his family, he visited Cavern Club and Abbey Road. He was also an avid fan of the Beatles memorabilia, Pepsi-Cola and McCoy Pottery.

Janet was always a friendly, outgoing person, and she greatly missed her family and friends.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Stephen J. Plunkett; sons: Tim (Jenna) Plunkett of Greenfield, Amanda (DeWayne) Yockey of Greenfield; grandchildren: Samantha Yockey, Grayson Plunkett, Madaline Yockey, and Alyse Plunkett; brothers: Ronald Burns and Ralph (Becky) Burns; and several grandchildren, including his older sister, Michelle Lovitt.

Janet is survived by her parents and granddaughter, Lillian Plunkett.

The Stillinger Family Council would like to thank the Plunkett family for allowing our family to support their families. As a result of the rise of COVID-19, the Janet family will be doing everything in the future in secret. The Life Service event, however, will take place on a special day at the end of next year.
